A little bit more about me
Photography has been a big part of my life for a very long time — and my journey into it certainly wasn’t a straight line.
Long before digital photography took over, I was learning my craft with film cameras, back in the wonderful analogue days. Over the years, I’ve photographed just about everything that caught my eye. I’ve sold photographs of flowers, bridges and trees, and even once picked up a booking after someone spotted a macro photograph I’d taken of a dog’s eye, with my reflection visible in it. I thought it looked pretty cool. Thankfully, someone else did too!
My photographs have also found their way into various magazines and publications over the years, which has always been a real privilege.
These days I shoot with Nikon cameras. I started out with Fujifilm, which I absolutely loved, but after someone brushed past me at a gig and managed to snap the lens mount, I decided it was time for something a little more robust. Enter Nikon — sturdy, reliable and built to take the knocks that come with working professionally.
Photography isn't the only thing I've been passionate about. I'm a qualified football coach and was previously a qualified boxing coach, so I'm very comfortable around people, I enjoy being part of the action and I'm certainly not afraid to get stuck in.
I'm originally from the Black Country and now call Runcorn, Cheshire, home. Despite moving away, one thing hasn't changed — I'm a West Bromwich Albion fan and always will be. A Baggie for life!
Away from photography, you'll usually find me enjoying football, boxing, kickboxing, camping, working with my hands or simply getting out with my camera.
And I think all of those things have shaped the way I photograph weddings.
I'm not someone who wants to stand in the corner and simply tick off a list of photographs. I want to be involved enough to anticipate what's happening, but unobtrusive enough to let you enjoy your day. I look for the laughs, the tears, the chaos, the little moments and the people who make your wedding yours.
That's probably why natural, relaxed and documentary-style wedding photography suits me so well.
